Founded in 1974, Auchroisk is a newbie compared to some of its ancient Speyside counterparts. Though the distillery itself might be a recent addition to the landscape, Auchroisk Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from the naturally-pure waters of Dorries Well, a feature as old as the hills that gives this whisky its smooth and subtle character.

An apéritif malt whisky, pleasant and light, which opens sweet, fresh and balanced then dries to a short finish. Doughy and buttery on the palate. This textured single malt whisky displays hints of lemon and pineapple with a slight aniseed and smokey finish.

Serving Suggestion:
Auchroisk works best served in a traditional whisky glass, neat or with a little water.

Region A little known resident of Speyside.
Appearance Pale gold.
Body Smooth, with a light to medium body.
Nose Mild, sweet and fresh. Ground almonds, even dry marzipan, with some dark chocolate that eventually becomes nuttier.
Palate Takes a fair amount of water. Light and fresh; pleasant mouthfeel. Sweetish start, some acidity.
Finish Surprisingly dry, fairly short – all well balanced.

Insights from some of the best in the business

This version is not obviously sherryish, but still manages very big flavours indeed. I'm very impressed.

Michael Jackson 2001, Whisky Magazine, Issue 20

Malt and spice on the light nose, with developing nuts and floral notes. Quite voluptuous on the palate, with fresh fruit and milk chocolate. Raisins in the finish.

Gavin D Smith, Malt Whisky Yearbook 2015, p.75

Young and zesty and citrusy on the nose, warming tangerine and citrus fruits and a touch of salt on the palate, medium long malty finish.

Dominic Roskrow, Malt Whisky Yearbook 2015, p.75
