Celebrating 200 Years. Johnnie Walker began its pioneering history in 1820 when young John Walker used the money from the sale of the family farm to set up a grocer’s shop. Most grocers stocked single malts but they were inconsistent. John started blending the whiskies together so they tasted just as good every time. New generations of the family developed the whisky until 1909 when Johnnie Walker Black Label was born. The leading illustrator of the day sketched a logo and the Striding Man was created. Today, Johnnie Walker is the biggest whisky brand in the world and its slogan has been embraced everywhere as a joyful expression of optimism - Keep Walking.

To celebrate Chinese New Year 2021, Johnnie Walker is proud to offer John Walker & Sons King George V, an extremely rare and highly sought-after limited-edition Scotch whisky. The bespoke artwork on the gift box is a modern take on traditional Chinese patterns and designs inspired by haute couture and is highly collectable. The beautifully illustrated celebratory pack features a contemporary knot design symbolising the traditional practice of weaving and hanging Chinese knots for good fortune on Spring Festival. The whisky is presented in the iconic John Walker & Sons decanter.

An impressive gift to celebrate a successful year at work or to toast an auspicious start to the new year, John Walker & Sons King George V is inspired by the great whiskies made during the reign of King George V.

Nose Sweet, smoky aromas deepened by Port Ellen are followed by notes of orange and Mediterranean fruits and the rich fruit spiciness - raisins, figs and cinnamon – of malts from across Scotland matured in European and American oak.
Palate Rich in texture, on the palate there’s an abundance of spice and dried fruits from the Speyside and Highlands whiskies with European oak character, balanced by creamy vanilla sweetness from the malts and grains matured in American oak, together releasing layer upon layer of flavour: sweet fruits, dark chocolate, toffee, spices and roast nuts.
Finish Port Ellen intensifies the maritime Islay smokiness that gathers momentum through the exceptionally long, warming finish with hints of spice and pepper.
