The Singleton of Dufftown was built during the reign of Queen Victoria. And though the traditional methods, centuries of craft and ancient water source remain, Dufftown – the smoothest of the family of three – is on a mission to create new, great tasting Single Malt Scotch Whiskies that burst with flavour.

is distilled in the Dufftown distillery in Speyside, the heart of malt whisky production in Scotland. Whisky has been distilled at the distillery since 1896 and from fermentation to distillation we do our utmost best to ensure every drop of spirit is the highest quality. The Singleton of Dufftown has an aroma of toasted nuts with rich fruits, with hints of blackcurrant, brown sugar and coffee on the palate – before an elegantly drying and crisp finish. The Singleton of Dufftown has the flavour profile for new drinkers to malt whisky due to its smooth, rich, accessible flavour.

1 of The Singleton Of Dufftown Sunray Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 70cl - a smooth and elegant expression of the honeyed side of Dufftown that is golden, clean and fresh on the palate with notes of blackcurrant and heather honey on the nose. A beautifully structured malt with a well balanced and appealing nose that’s light in texture but no lightweight; it has a great fusion of fruit and spice notes and is delicate on the palate with a clean finish.

Region A solid Speyside.
Appearance Rich amber, polished mahogany highlights.
Body Medium to full bodied.
Nose First polished wood and toasted nuts, then baked apples and soft brown sugar take over, giving way to a mossy note, too.
Palate Sweetness and crunchy nuts, then smooth fruity richness: hints of brown sugar and espresso coffee.
Finish Medium to long, elegantly drying and crisp, completed by a pleasant, sweetly nutty chew-ability.

Expert Reviews

Insights from some of the best in the business

Sumptuous aromatic composition, as you’d expect from Speyside: plumply downy, with grass, moss and heather notes. On the palate, a deeper, grander soul than the aroma suggested: dark, forceful, with some chocolate and raisin richness and Latakia-tobacco austerities. Hard to fault, and a great after-dinner dram.

Andrew Jefford, distinguished wine & whisky writer - Financial Times, 28 December 2007

The nose is sweet, almost violet-like, with underlying malt. Big and bold on the palate, this is an upfront yet very drinkable whisky. The finish is medium to long, warming, spicy, with slowly fading notes of sherry and fudge.

Gavin D Smith, Malt Whisky Yearbook 2015, p.103

Honeycomb and tinned peach and apricot in syrup on the nose, sharp and spicy clean barley on the palate, with some bitter orange notes towards the finish.

Dominic Roskrow, Malt Whisky Yearbook 2015, p.101
