A little-known Highland distillery of ancient origin, it was for a good portion of the 20th century the only distillery north of Inverness with electricity and telephones. Until 1960 electricity was produced by two water wheels fed by water from a dam. The wheels have gone, but Teaninich whisky is no less delicious.

A well rounded Highland single malt whisky with light salty flavours making a fine apéritif. A crisp, dry and appetising malt that starts fresh and orange-sweet with a long and dry finish.

Serving Suggestion:
Teaninich works best served in a traditional whisky glass, neat or with a little water.

Region An ancient Ross-shire Highland malt.
Appearance Mid gold, almost buttery.
Body Light to medium body, crisp and mouth-cleansing.
Nose Fresh and citric, with a background scent of violets, which rises then falls. It is replaced by concentrated orange juice and old oranges.
Palate Light and sweetish, but over all dry with pleasant acidity and even a pinch of salt.
Finish Long and dry. The beeswax returns in the aftertaste.

Insights from some of the best in the business

The nose is initially fresh and grassy, quite light, with vanilla and hints of tinned pineapple. Mediumbodied, smooth, slightly oily, with cereal and spice in the mouth. Nutty and slowly drying in the finish, with pepper and a suggestion of cocoa powder notes.
